Campagnolo Chorus 11 Speed UT Compact Chainset 2010: The 11-speed Ultra-Torque carbon chainset has been designed to be more rigid and shift more quickly and fluidly, even under stress. The Chorus 11 speed chainset has been embellished by the new surface anodisation treatment which renders the chainrings more resistant to wear and to corrosion. The asymmetrical toothing of the innermost chainring and the eight pins on the outside render shifting immediate. Chorus is almost identical to Record, except it generally weighs just a few grams more. The little extra weight typically brings with it cost savings though. It's a pattern that continues right through to the Chorus 11 Ultra Torque crankset. There are a couple of differences between the Chorus 11 and the Record 11 chainsets. Unlike the Hollow construction of the Record crank, the Chorus crank arms and spider aren't hollow. The Chorus are built around an uncompressible low-density material which resists the enormous molding pressures applied during the production process. The weight increase over Record is approximately 40g, with the Chorus 11 crankset weighing around 739g. The other difference is rather than coming with USB ceramic bearings, the Chorus 11 chainset is equipped with the same stainless steel bearings you got with the first generation Record 10 Ultra Torque crankset. The use of stainless bearings instead of ceramic is a big cost-saver. The Campagnolo Chorus 11 crankset is available in 170mm, 172.5mm, and 175mm crank lengths and requires a pair of Ultra torque bottom bracket cups to suit your frames bottom bracket shell, 68mm for English frames or 70mm for Italian frames. Ultra-Torque™ Lightness, rigidity, simplified assembly and maintenance: Ultra-Torque™. This is Campagnolo®'s answer in the integrated crankset sector. MORE ERGONOMIC Campagnolo® found a way to permanently conjoin the semi-axles of the bottom bracket to the respective crankset arms. This redesign made it possible to considerably reduce the lateral dimensions at the axle level and prevent annoying contact with the ankles when turning the pedals. EASIER Assembly is simplistic: one single oversize bolt is enough to integrate the two semi-axles. With regard to torque transmission efficiency, this system is equally as effective as a single piece axle. MORE RIGID Furthermore, despite the narrow side profile, we have been able to position the bearings outside the bottom bracket shell, resulting in greater axle rigidity from the increased axle diameter. This breakthrough was obtained by using an ingenious mechanical system derived from many years' motoring experience in the rotation axle and engine shaft coupling sector: the Hirth joint. In short , this is a joint with self-centring and self-aligning frontal teeth located in the middle of the bottom-bracket axle where the ends of the semi-axles, integrated with the crankset arms, come into contact.
