Hope Hoops Pro3 SP-AM4 Front Mtb Wheel: The Pro3 SP-AM4 wheelset joins the SP-XC3 3 bolt version to give the option of a unique, lightweight super stiff all mountain wheel to those looking for something that little bit different. The wheel is a stunning blend of function - from the stainless steel bearings and multiple axle options, to form - with the clean 4 bolt rotor fixing and straight pull flange design. The 4 fixed arms on the hub help to create a stiff mounting point for the rotor, reduce weight and help to dissipate heat effectively. The hub uses stainless steel bearings and the proven ratchet system as used in the Pro2 and other Pro3 ranges. Rim choices on the AM4 include DT Swiss EX500, Mavic D521 and EX721 and the No Tubes Flow. All are built using DT Competition double butted spokes and brass nipples. These rim choices reflect the type of riding this wheel is designed for. Aggressive XC, all mountain and freeride - and with the classic EX721 rim laced up - it creates a perfect DH wheelset. Both wheels are QR with 20mm conversion included, but can be converted to 15mm front/bolt through/bolt in rear with kits sold seperatley. Hope wanted to create something that offers similar benefits with regards to weight savings as the dedicated 3 bolt design, but in a slightly more conventional package - hence the 6 bolt disc fixing with this hub. Rim choice is again available in this wheelset. DT Swiss 4.2 or No Tubes Crest - and for 2009 Hope are building and hand finishing in the Barnoldswick factory using Sapim Sprint double butted spokes and brass nipples. The No Tubes Crest offers the rider the choice of running tubeless as well as a superlight overall weight. The DT Swiss 4.2 gives excellent all round XC performance with a proven lightweight, high quality rim. Both options are in 24 hole drilling. These are lightweght XC and race orientated wheels. Hope suggest a rider weight limit of 85kg. This is only a guideline, but common sense should be used with regards to the type of riding they will be used for. The super light straight pull hubs run on the same stainless steel bearings used in the SP-XC3 and have the same axle options (QR and 15mm front and QR rear). Overall weight comparison between the XC3 and this wheel is almost identical when using a lightweight floating rotor and Ti bolts.
