Swobo took the look, style and simplicity of their track bike, Sanchez, and created the Del Norte. The main difference is that they designed the frame and fork dimensions for more versatile riding. Unlike the Sanchez, which is designed around narrow track bike dimensions and track hubs, Del Norte can accommodate a wider range of tyres and traditional full mudguards with stays. Wider tyres means wider range of riding options. Skinny tyres means a skinny range of riding options. Custom Swobo spec includes powder-coated red hubs, rims and chain; chromed steel drop bars and Swobo saddle with bottle opener. Dual-function pedals can be ridden with street shoes, or bike shoes with SPD cleats. The rear wheel is set up with a single-speed freewheel, or the hub can be flipped and ridden as a fixed gear. Which in laymen's terms means that you can have that track bike look and...well look...with the option of having the rear wheel spin freely. Tight pants and empty messenger bag pulled high and tight onto your upper back works with either hub configuration. Extra-long reach front and rear brakes accommodate mudguards. Rear rack and mudguards mount to the custom forged dropouts with threaded eyelets. Swobo make Del Norte in 5 sizes, to fit most people. The Crosby is an all-purpose road or cross bike. The heart of the bike is the frame and Swobo frame is shaped and butted aluminium with varied diametre with shapes to give it the optimum stiffness and compliance. Square-section top tube near the seat tube makes it easy to carry, if you are shouldering the bike for cross. The fork is carbon, designed to work with the frame. Frame and fork can accommodate cantilever brakes or disc brakes. The ingenious SRAM Torpedo hub is designed to be either fixed or free, on the fly, with just 7 turns of a screwdriver. There is no need to flip the wheel, if you are riding fixed and decide you want to coast down the big hill you just climbed. Or vice versa. Put the screwdriver in the small hole, and seven turns later you go from track bike hero to single speed coasting casual.. Swobo's custom forged dropouts allow for horizontal wheel movement to get proper chain tension when you are riding the bike as a single-speed. Wheel removal is simple and fast, as the wheel drops down, out of the dropouts. There is no need to push the wheel forward and drop the chain, as with traditional horizontal dropouts. The Crosby will be sold as you see it, as a free-wheeling single-speed with cantilevers, but the options are there to add gears or discs, mudguards or a rack, tyres with varied widths and tread patterns. On sizes 55cm and smaller, Swobo have used a seat tube clamp for the rear cantilever brake cable stop. Sizes 57cm and larger sport the welded cable stop. Crosby is available in 6 sizes.
